The purpose of the care provided by our Home Care Assistant's is to support individuals who choose to remain in the comfort and security of their own homes and to help them live as independent and active lives as possible by supporting them in an enablement focussed way. The tasks undertaken will be agreed by the service user and their Manager once they have assessed the service user's needs. This will be written down in an Individual Task Planer, which will be kept in the service user's home. This document will specify the Home Care Assistant's duties for each individual service user they work with and it will be their responsibility to follow this, and other supporting documents, and report any changes in need that they or their service users identify.
The Home Care Assistant will be responsible for meeting the personal needs of service users. He/she will assist in meeting the care, support and daily living needs of the service user and to provide care and any additional support as required in accordance with the family and all health professionals
The role will include the provision of all aspects of personal care.
A desire in working with the elderly and to support them in living an active and independent life as could reasonably be expected.
An ability to remain calm and able to handle emergency situations if required.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to both work as a team member and under their own initiative.
Ability to work with a smile on their face!!
Previous experience working in service user's homes. However, those with no experience, but with the desire to work in the industry, should still apply as full training will be given.
Relevant NVQ/QCF or similar qualifications.
Experience in the understanding of elderly health issues.
The desire to progress through various levels of supervision.
