Programme Leader Applied Science
Full time Programme Leader Applied Science
Salary: £21,534 -£34,757 plus excellent benefits
Due to growth in student numbers we have an opportunity available to join the science teams in the Faculty of Maths and Science. The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1. We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent progress and success rates. This role is primarily within Level 3 Applied Science where we deliver the BTEC Foundation Diploma and Extended Diploma in Applied Science. The successful applicant would also be a personal tutor to a group of students.
The Applied Science team is experienced, supportive and has a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be supported by the Team Leader for Applied Science. You will also have a mentor and a faculty-based Learning Lead as well as support for tutoring from a Lead Tutor. The faculty is mainly based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre.
Depending upon your skill set and experience, there is scope for the successful candidate to also teach across a range of other courses within the faculty such as A level, Access to HE and IB. We would particularly welcome applicants who can teach across both Biology and Chemistry but a range of skills within the Applied Science area would be welcome.
The Programme Leader aspect of the role involves taking responsibility for an element of the work of the team, for example responsibility for certain units within the BTEC, but overall coordination sits with the Team Leader.
Part time hours will be considered as we are seeking to appoint candidates with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. We also have scope to offer an Associate Lecturer contract to those wanting more limited part time or flexible work. If you fit the bill and are passionate to teach science within this thriving college, your application will be welcome! Please specify if you are looking for part time or full time hours.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.
