Programme Leader - Biology
Programme Leader - Biology (one full time post and one 0.5FTE part time post)
Salary: £21,534 -£34,757 plus excellent benefits
Due to staff retirement and a member of staff moving on, we have two opportunities to join the biology team in the Faculty of Maths and Science.
The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1.
We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent progress and success rates. This role is primarily within AS and A level Biology where we deliver the AQA specification. The successful applicant would also be a personal tutor to a group of students.
The Biology team is experienced, supportive and has a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be managed and supported by the Team Leader for Biology.
You will also have a mentor and a faculty-based Learning Lead as well as support for tutoring from a Lead Tutor. The faculty is mainly based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre.
Depending upon your skill set and experience, there is scope for the successful candidate to also teach across a range of other courses within the faculty such as BTEC, Access to HE and IB.
The Programme Leader aspect of the role involves taking responsibility for an element of the work of the team, for example a unit within the A level or Practical Assessments, but overall coordination sits with the Team Leader.
We are looking for both a full time and a part time member of staff. The flexibility to teach across other curriculum disciplines within the faculty, such as chemistry or environmental science would also be welcome. We are seeking to appoint candidates with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. We also have scope to offer an Associate Lecturer contract to those wanting more limited part time or flexible work. If you fit the bill and are passionate to teach biology within this thriving college, your application will be welcome! Please specify if you are looking for part time or full time hours.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.
