The company's capability covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing, installation and maintenance of the following products: - Conductor Rail Systems and ancillary products - Third Rail Current Collectors - Pantographs - Light Rail Overhead Systems Henry Brecknell and Sons began trading in 1854. In 1894 the company moved into the electrification business and in 1895 gained the first major contract for the initial stage of the Bristol Tramway. This was the first contract to include every aspect of providing electric 'power on the move'. The company has been operating from Chard, Somerset, since 1938. Whilst operating as part of the Wabtec Group of companies, the business has retained a strong identity and continues to be a huge employer in the local area with different generations of the community working within a business that has tremendous staff retention levels. In 2015 Faiveley Brecknell Willis moved into a new purpose built factory which incorporates the most advanced manufacturing facilities required for this specialist industry. The business continues to invest in research and development to ensure that they remain in a position to completely fulfil the needs of their customers and as a result has a strong engineering team to support its world-wide innovation activities in Railwaylectrification. The team is able to take projects from the initial outline design stage through prototyping, testing and trials on the client's railway. Health, Safety and Quality is core to the business principles and it is a member of the British Standards Institute and certified to ISO 9000-2008, IRIS, ISO 14001-2004 and OHSAS 18001. Detailed Job Description The role of Operations Director for Faiveley Brecknell Willis is newly created and further evidence of the ambition of what is already an outstanding business. As the Operations Director you will be instrumental in driving operational change and improvement, through your team, to ensure the very best of service to all business stakeholders. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to; - Ensuring the complete safety of all staff and visitors at all times. Exceptional HSE adherence and compliance is core to the business principles. - Taking ownership and accountability for the Engineering, Production, Quality, HSE, Planning and Composites teams. - Continually looking for ways to develop your employees with high engagement levels across the business through coaching and empowerment to allow the full potential of the workforce to be realised. - Providing truly inspirational leadership. - Exceeding the needs of the customers through excellent delivery and quality performances within budget and on time. - Working collaboratively with all departments ensuring synergy and maximum support within the business and across the wider group. - Supporting the strategic vision of the business and working through your team to deliver that vision. - Driving nothing short of world class excellence. - Deputising for the Managing Director. Candidate's Profile In order to become the Operations Director for Faiveley Brecknell Willis, you will possess a track record of excellence within a manufacturing or engineering business. You will be a true leader with a safety first approach and be passionate about developing people. Whilst rail experience would be interesting, it is not essential. A track record of success within a composites, machining, fabrication or welding environment is important as well as demonstrating quantifiable achievements in these environments. Further qualifications and experiences will include; - Degree qualified in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline or qualified by experience. - Familiar with Project Management tools and techniques. - Ideally having experience in more than one of the 4 responsible areas (Production, Engineering, QHSE, Composites). - A proven track record in embedding world class manufacturing principles across HSE and Lean.
