Building Surveyor Location: Torquay, TQ1 4BU Salary: £30,000-£45,000 (negotiable - depending on qualifications/experience) The successful candidate will occasionally need to work away from home and the office and from time to time need to work additional hours to meet the demands of the business Our client are currently looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join their team based in their Torquay Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company who will actively look to progress and develop you within the business The role of the Building Surveyor To undertake a full range of surveying duties as directed by the Director in a professional and conscientious manner to the required standard and quality within given timescales. Duties of the Building Surveyor Undertake site surveys in relation to condition / building surveying, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and planned maintenance; defect analysis to include analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports, in line with RICS and other standards as may be appropriate. Preparation of drawings for the submission of planning and building regulation approval. Prepare specifications, schedules of work and carry out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment and new building schemes. Project Management of construction and non- construction projects within agreed client parameters of time, quality and cost. Prepare tender documents, undertake contract administration duties/project management/employer’s agent and site monitoring duties of relevant contracts ensuring compliance and quality control. The appointment of contractors and design teams on behalf of clients. Provide technical and advisory guidance to clients and stakeholders and other technical team members. Preparation of feasibility studies and option appraisals. Assisting the Director in the carrying out of other works within the office. Requirements of the Building Surveyor Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a Building Surveying related discipline Thorough working knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD LT) and developing in-house use of REVIT, and be able to prepare good quality working drawings for construction projects. Accurate measurement of existing buildings. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite Knowledge of the Building Regulations and other construction and building surveying related legislation Good knowledge of construction techniques and methodology, including types of building contracts and their appropriate use. To undertake an agreed minimum level of continuing professional development (CPD) as agreed with the Director.
