Senior Business Intelligence Engineer Buckfastleigh, Devon c£45,000 DOE Plus Benefits About Riverford We're mad about organic veg. It's at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes and deliver it to customers' doorsteps around the UK. This takes a lot of brilliant people, with a range of skills and knowledge. Riverford began in 1986, with a few acres of veg, a wheelbarrow and a beaten up 2CV for deliveries. We've grown into a successful e-commerce business, with four farms, three packhouses, a fleet of vans and drivers, a wholesalers, butchery, organic restaurant and pub. We employ people across many areas including IT, Logistics, Sales, HR, Finance and Marketing (and more besides). Our culture and values set us apart from other businesses. Riverford is a friendly, informal place to work, with a passionate, entrepreneurial spirit. We're committed to providing a fair deal for growers, customers and staff. What you'll be doing You will be a technical authority in the engineering of business intelligence systems, tasked with helping to deliver the roadmap for a new chapter of business intelligence here at Riverford. You will work with your team and every department of the business; capturing, architecting and delivering analysis of data to enable Riverford to deliver ever improving products and experiences to our customers. It will be your responsibility to deliver a best-of-breed business intelligence function, both white-glove and self-service, facilitating the company in making strategic decisions through robust data and insight. Working with business stakeholders will be second nature, along with identifying and questioning, then aligning with business information requests. Communication is key, as will the ability to clearly and confidently outline and defend decisions, approaches and conclusions. You'll be exceptionally data-driven, wanting to experiment to ratify and optimise results and identify new opportunities. Most of all though, you will want to work with like-minded and highly capable people to deliver fantastic ethical and delicious products steered by your team's insight. What you should know We are less concerned about specifics and decades of experience than we are about capability, ambition and cultural fit. That said, here are our ideal skills for this role: - SQL Server - Ownership of our data warehouse and its operation - SSIS / SSRS / DW - MSSQL stack for BI currently but are open to change - ML - Tensor, Tourch, Theano. We want to leverage AI wherever possible - R / Matlab / Julia - For deeper statistical analysis of complex situations - Tableau / PowerBI - Delivering powerful self-service BI - Data architecture - From inception to delivery, ensuring data provenance - Data management - Definition of appropriate policies for data lifecycle - ETL - Extracting, transforming and consolidating data, company-wide - Analysis - Results should answer questions not simply expose data - Analytics - Discovery and interpretation of patterns within data - Presentation - Delivering insight clearly and confidently up to the board - Modelling - Conceptual, logical and physical data models and prediction - Consulting - BI as a two-way strategic service to business stakeholders - SQL - Deep understanding and application of advanced querying - Tooling - Identifying and procuring best-of-breed systems and tools - Best practice - Query reviews, result testing, data fuzzing and proofs - Agile / Scrum / Kanban - Work just-in-time to release value quickly Skills & experience You will have either a solid degree in a STEM subject or a similar capability through experience. You'll be very capable of analysing complex scenarios and large amounts of data and communicating conclusions to both technical and non-technical people concisely. You are likely to have strong experience in business intelligence, analytics or quantitative analysis around commerce, forecasting etc. You will have worked with large-scale e-commerce systems and medium-large scale integrated organisations before, delivering insight and intelligence. You will have a history of identifying opportunity for data capture and analysis then executing on those opportunities to deliver real business. Benefits Riverford is a beautiful place to work, with lots of great people - and other benefits too. We offer 31 days' holiday (including bank holidays), a generous company pension scheme and an annual profit share. We love food and hope you do too, so we give staff 25% off everything we sell on our website; heavily discounted organic breakfasts and lunches in the staff canteen; and free organic fruit and veg.
