My client is an award-winning vehicle dealership, located in Barnstaple, Devon offering new car and used vehicles and also offering sales, servicing, parts and accessories for new and used vehicles. They require a full time accounts assistant to cover a maternity leave. They will be reporting to the Finance Director. Primary responsibilities - Timely, accurate and complete recording of all financial transactions within the company. - Maintain complete confidentiality and discretion, and portray a professional appearance, approach and attitude commensurate with the accounting profession. - Recording of all cashbook and petty cash transactions, ensuring bank reconciliations are carried out on a daily basis. - To be responsible for the Sage purchase ledger processing, reconciliations and payment of suppliers. - To assist the Purchase Ledger Clerk and Finance Director in order to ensure that all purchase ledger transactions are completed accurately, promptly and are properly authorised for payment. - To be responsible for the maintenance of the sales ledger, distribution of monthly statements and to assist the Finance Director in respect of credit control. - To ensure the accurate recording of costs and income on the vehicle ledgers, and associated reporting - To assist in the preparation of financial reports including monthly management reports and budgets. - To carry out any other accounting duties required in order for the department to reach its objectives. - To assist with any administrative duties required by the company, in particular sales administration and registration of vehicles. - To be assist in the weekly payroll function and all aspects of the company payroll, PAYE and pension administration. - To carry out other ad hoc duties, that the Directors may require in line with your knowledge and experience. - To assist in administrative aspects of FCA compliance. - To assist in relation to employee records and documentation. Candidate Profile - Part Qualified accountant or QBE - Motor industry background - Good knowledge of dealership accounting processes - Will have worked at assistant accountant level or equivalent - Sage experience necessary - HR experience an asset
